Our Story

The Long Evening started with a pretty simple idea: I wanted to create the kind of store I would want to shop.

The Long Evening is a woman-owned small business, built around a love of outdoor living and the belief that the spaces outside our homes deserve to feel every bit as comfortable, useful, and personal as the spaces inside.

I have always loved being outside. Not just for parties, special occasions, or perfect weather. I mean everyday living outside.

Maybe that means starting the morning with coffee on the patio. Rejuvenating in the sauna or taking a cold plunge after a workout. Relaxing in the hot tub at the end of the day. Cooking dinner outside instead of standing in the kitchen. Or settling into a comfortable outdoor couch with a book and a fire burning just because.

That is what The Long Evening is about—bringing the inside out.

I believe an outdoor space can be another living space. It can be comfortable, beautiful, useful, and personal. It should be somewhere you actually live, not somewhere you only use when company comes over.

I am also particular about what I put in this store. I notice the too-thin cushions, awkward proportions, and furniture that looks beautiful in a photograph but would never work in a real backyard. I want pieces that make sense for real spaces and real life.

The Long Evening is a U.S.-based, woman-owned small business, and every order matters here. Whether you are choosing a planter for the porch or investing in an entire outdoor kitchen, I want you to feel confident about what you are bringing into your home and where you chose to buy it.

I appreciate every person who chooses to shop The Long Evening, and I do not take that choice lightly. If you have a question, need help deciding between products, or need assistance with an order, you can reach out and know someone is here to help.

My hope is that The Long Evening helps you make the outdoors part of your everyday life—a place to cook, gather, recharge, relax, or simply sit by the fire with a good book.
