Placement & Care

Place the bird bath on firm, level ground so the basin sits evenly and the pedestal remains stable. For an inviting bird-friendly location, leave approximately two to three feet of open space around the bath while keeping shrubs or other protective cover within a short flight.

Fill the basin to approximately 2 inches deep rather than to the rim. The shallow depth gives visiting birds room to comfortably stand, drink and bathe.

Clean the basin and decorative scrollwork periodically with a soft brush and plain water. Avoid liquid or harsh cleaners since birds may drink directly from the basin.

Before the first hard freeze, drain the basin completely and leave it empty or turn it over. Keeping the concrete dry helps protect it through repeated freeze-and-thaw cycles.
